Hyperbolic words like ‘enigmatic’ and ‘unique’ get used a lot to try and describe Darren Cunningham’s artistic output as Actress, but they don’t begin to scratch the surface of his complicated and challenging approach to electronic music. A beguiling producer whose club appearances are all too scarce, his Phonox debut will be a date to count down to in the diary.
